The Ola I Ka Pu Hala Weaving Conference will serve as the first-of-its-kind event on Maui. Led by master weaver Pohaku Kaho‘ohanohano and KBH Hawaiian cultural resource specialist Gayle Miyaguchi, master weavers from all over Hawai‘i will share their expertise and skills during the four-day cultural event. Experience language and culture through the art of hula and oli (chant) during the annual two-day children’s hula competition. On Friday, see hula students from Hawaiʻi and around the world compete in kahiko (traditional) and ‘auana (modern) style hula, while learning, interpreting, and performing a Maui oli.
