Hawaiian Telcom drops after the Honolulu Advertiser’s Apr. 1 story about how the company—wholly owned by mighty Carlyle Group—lost six percent of its land-line clients after it took over Verizon Hawai’i. In fact, Carlyle Group had expected a decline, but one less than two percent. Whereas Verizon Hawai’i made $36.9 million in 2004, Hawaiian Telcom lost nearly $176 million this year… And Maui Land slips a notch after the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported on Apr. 6 that a couple state senators threatened to cut $20 million in Superferry funding. Said something about wanting the company to do more “outreach” with the “community.” Outreach, shmoutreach! MLP’s put a ton of dough into that thing! Get on with it! MTW
