REV’D Superfood Bars has signed Maui surfer Matt Meola to its team. “Matt Meola is one of the most progressive surfers in the world today,” said REV’D Team Manager Matt O’Connor. “He does things on a surfboard that were previously thought impossible. By signing Matt to the REV’D surf team, we’re showing our support for the evolution of surfing. Our goal is to build a well-rounded team that includes free surfers like Matt as well as contest surfers. We want to support all aspects of the sport.”
Meola, 24, is known as one of the most inventive aerial surfers in the world. In fact, his athletic passion began on a skateboard, and he didn’t seriously begin surfing until he was 13. Meola’s surf skills gained the attention of the surf community in 2011 when he won the Innersection video contest with a video edit showcasing an array of spectacular aerials. Meola is also a big wave surfer who paddles into the giant winter swells at “Jaws” on the North shore of Maui.
“I’m very happy to be riding for REV’D, ” Meola said. “This year has been off to a great start and I’m psyched about working with them… I am also excited to be associated with a company that is leading the way to create a safety net for action sports athletes and their families. This effort will really help the surf community when bad things happen.”
REV’D’s decision to welcome Meola into its fold reflects its dedication to support athletes that push the evolution of their sport and the limits of human athleticism. “Matt’s an innovator, said O’Connor. “The influence of his early interest in skateboarding can be seen in the way he surfs. This kind of juxtaposition is what REV’D is all about. We make superfood bars that are nutritious and actually taste super.”
REV’D nutrition bars are non-GMO and made with wholesome ingredients including oats, dates, nuts, and superfoods like cocoa and organic Peruvian maca. REV’D bars contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, no trans fat, no hydrogenated oils and no corn syrup.
The company, which values innovation, positivity and empowering youth, supports cutting edge athletes, artists and musicians. REV’D is also helping to start the non-profit Fallen Athletes Fund.
