As they begin their 15th year of service, the Maui County Electronics Recycling Program (Ecycling) has announced new hours which will come into effect on Saturday, Aug. 2. Currently, Ecycling is open every Tuesday and Saturday from 9am-1pm. Starting on Aug. 2, Ecycling will be open every Tuesday from 2pm-6pm and every Saturday from 8am-1pm.
Electronics cannot go into our landfill, so it’s crucial that any and all unwanted pieces of technology are brought in during business hours, to be recycled properly. For a full list of the types of electronics that Ecycling will and will not accept, visit their website here. All Ecycling services are free to residents and business.
Businesses with more than one pickup truck load of material must stack their recyclables on standard 4×4 pallets and wrap them securely. A fork lift is on-sight to help unload trucks, if necessary.
“We want to thank everyone for using our service and keeping our communities cleaner and safe,” said Ecycling Program Administrator Marty McMahon in a June 23 press release. “Electronics are federally designated hazardous waste and they are dangerous, particularly to our soil and groundwater, so please recycle responsibly.”
