A couple weeks ago the Social Security Administration sent out a press release listing the top baby names in the U.S. for 2015. For boys, it was Noah; for girls, Emma was the most popular.
At the time, I asked the SSA’s Honolulu office for the top baby names in just Hawaii. They said they’d get back to me, and on May 12, they did. Without further adieu, here are your top five baby names (boy and girl) for Hawaii in the year 2015:
BOYS
1) Noah
2) Liam
3) Mason
4) Ezekiel
5) Aiden
GIRLS
1) Mia
2) Emma
3) Olivia
4) Aria
5) Ava
So Noah is really popular with parents both nationally and here in Hawaii. In fact, the top three boys names in Hawaii are the same nationally (though Ezekiel and Aiden didn’t make the national top 10 list). But for girls, Hawaii mothers like Emma fine enough, but are really loving Mia, which is only the sixth most popular girl’s name nationally.
“The agency began compiling the baby name list in 1997, with names dating back to 1880,” the Social Security Administration stated on May 6. “At the time of a child’s birth, parents supply the name to the agency when applying for a child’s Social Security card, thus making Social Security America’s source for the most popular baby names.”
