Not to get anyone in town too excited, but the Maui Redevelopment Agency (MRA) will discuss the looooong-awaited act of repairing the Wailuku Municipal Parking Lot at its meeting this Thursday, Mar. 27.
It’s right there on the agenda, under “OLD BUSINESS” (perhaps the truest words on the agenda): “Anticipated schedule and draft plans for the Wailuku Municipal Parking Lot Resurfacing and Restriping activity to be bid out and managed by the Department of Public Works as a repair and maintenance project,” it states.
Could it be? Dare we hope? Will something called for by many a consultant and resident finally come to pass?
“The physical condition of the Municipal Lot has worsened considerably to the point of becoming a serious liability risk for the county,” states the Wailuku Town Parking Study, released two years ago. “We cannot stress enough the poor condition of the lot and the potential liability it presents if left in its current state of disrepair.”
The MRA agenda states the agency will also discuss “updates to the Wailuku Redevelopment Area Zoning and Development Code.”
