I’ve seen a lot of screwy press releases come out of county offices before, but this is about the screwiest. It’s too late in the day for me to comment in any meaningful way, so I’m just going to post the press release exactly as I received it moments ago:
PRESS RELEASE
July 11, 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maui County Voicemail Down
WAILUKU, Maui, Hawaii – The County of Maui voice mail system is down for about 1500 employees. The problem was discovered this morning and has been determined to be a corrupted hard drive that will take at least two days to repair.
At this time it is unknown as to how long County voice mail has been down. The Mayor’s Office received no voice mail messages over the weekend which means the problem likely began prior to its discovery Monday morning. The voice mail issue affects every centrally located County office, from the Kaunoa Senior Center in Spreckelsville to the main County Building in Wailuku.
In the meantime if a member of the public or media needs to leave a message for a County employee after hours please do so via email. If you do not know the particular email address for the person you are trying to reach then send your message to communications@mauicounty.gov.
