Here are the last two missives from the County on the islandwide weather related mayhem:

Public works officials have closed off Hauoli Road in Maalaea after the road partially collapsed under the weight of a county vehicle.
Public works has deemed the road impassable. More information will be released once engineers complete their inspection.
State work crews have announced that they have been making good progress at clearing the rockslide off of Honoapiilani Highway however
the highway remains closed.
South Kihei Road is still flooded almost completely from Suda Store to Wailea. Police are asking that motorists please stay away from this area.
There are two American Red Cross shelters available to help residents, one at the Kihei Community Center and the Lahaina Civic Center. Maui Economic Opportunity has also opened up a 3rd shelter at Eddie Tam Gym.

State crews are still cleaning up along Honoapiilani Highway. Right now they say there is mud in the tunnel that still needs to be removed before they can allow vehicles to pass.
Also county engineers are still on site at Hauoli Road where they are inspecting damage from a wheel loader, which had one of its tires partially sink into the road. In the meantime Hauoli Road is closed.
In some neighborhoods it is being reported that refuse containers have been seen floating away. The County requests that residents collect their bins and set them out tomorrow morning by 5:00 AM. The County anticipates picking up today’s missed routes tomorrow.
Maui Electric Company officials report that they have restored power to about 1000 customers in Kihei. That outage happened at 5:46 a.m. and was restored at 6:15 a.m.
MECO reports a small area in Paia is also without power. Repair crews are on site and accessing the situation however flooding in the area is hampering their efforts.
