The Merwin Conservancy presents The Green Room, a new literary series that will explore literature, art and nature.
The Green Room’s opening event will be held on Aug. 31, 2013 at Fort Faught Studio in Makawao (200 Kaluanui Rd.) from 6:30-9:30pm. It will feature a reading by acclaimed author Alexander Maksik from his latest novel A Marker To Measure Drift, which will be available for purchase at the event. The night will also feature work from Maui-based photographer Daniel Sullivan and his most recent project of hiking the wild landscapes of the ancient King’s Trail.
The Merwin Conservancy began in 2010 to preserve the legacy of Poet Laureate/Maui resident W.S. Merwin for the benefit of future writers and botanists. By engaging people with Merwin’s work through events and media, they hope to reinforce the value of the environment and the arts in the community.
Tickets start as $25 with special packages also available. For more information or to purchase tickets to The Green Room, visit the conservancy’s website Merwinconservancy.org or call 808-633-6140.
