Recently, the Hawaii GOP released its “2011 Legislative Action Plan.” Among the items: the “No New Taxes Act,” which would require, “a supermajority vote to [increase] the cost of living on Hawaii’s people.”
Sounds great, except for one thing: Republicans don’t have enough members to prevent a two-thirds supermajority in either the House—where their eight members represent less than half of the needed 33 percent—or the Senate—where their one member will be lucky to get a parking space.
