Haleakala National Park is now accepting applications for its 2015 Imi I ka Lama Collegiate Internship Program. Students interested in natural resources careers are encouraged to apply for eight available positions in the fields of Endangered Wildlife Management, Facilities Management, Interpretation, the Kipahulu District and Visitor/Resources Protection. One Team Leader will also be chosen.
Candidates must be available full time from June 0, 2015- to July 24, 2015; work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., not including travel time. Free transportation to and from the park from designated pick up sites will be provided by staff.
Internship applicants will be selected through a competitive process which includes a formal application, background check, and interview. Interns are eligible to earn a living allowance of $200 per week. The Team Leader will earn $430 per week. Graduates of the program will be eligible to earn an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,195 that may be applied towards any higher education costs, including tuition and student loans.
Applications will be accepted from neighbor island residents, however those who don’t live on Maui must be able to secure their own housing accommodations.
