Cos Bar is throwing a red carpet party to commemorate a decade in business at the Shops at Wailea. Lily Garfield started Cos Bar in Aspen, Colorado after find that many travelers lack access to their cosmetics, skin and hair care products. This issue is exacerbated by Transportation Security Agency (TSA) rules for flying, and the cost of checking baggage with airlines. Garfield created the beauty boutique to provide high-end products in places where travelers might not initially have an accessible Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus counter.
Now the business has grown to 13 stores nationally, the most recent one set to open in La Jolla, California. Cos Bar also entered into a partnership with Target this year to create a branded “pop up” store within the retail giant.
At the Wailea shop the concept hasn’t changed a bit, says store manager Katie Matthews. The benefit to getting your favorite cosmetics while visiting is that they can ship your product to you at home if there’s an issue with traveling with it, and they have plenty of sample and travel sizes on hand.
“The benefit of shopping at the Cos Bar versus a department store is that our sales staff sells the products based on the needs of the consumer that comes in,” says Matthews. “In the department store, sales people are representing just one brand. We get trained more often and frequently here on the different products, and the brands take pride in educating us on their products.”
This Saturday you can celebrate with Cos Bar at their VIP red carpet party that starts at 6pm and goes through 10pm. Reservations are required because they will have product experts from Bobby Brown, Chanel, Laura Mercier and Nars on hand to guide you to the products you need. There will be gifts with every purchase, red carpet photos and VIP goodie bags and refreshments.
Matthews says they have a couple of exclusive agreements with product lines like Estee Lauder’s Renutrive line, X of New York and Creed fragrances. They also have the most expensive bottle of fragrance on the island: Clive Christian’s – 1872, which runs $867 a bottle. But Matthews says despite these high-end items, they carry something for everyone.
Garfield is also a cancer survivor and will be donating money from the proceeds of their Cos Bar Party raffle basket to the Pacific Cancer Association. To make a reservation call 808-891-9448.
