The 18th annual Roy’s Golf Classic raised $90,000 for Imua Family Services during its Sept. 4 return to the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course. The sizable donation comprised $45,000 in proceeds from the tournament and an unprecedented matched donation by Sunil Dharod, President and Chief Executive Officer of SSCP Management.
This year’s Golf Classic was part of the new Hawaii Food & Wine Festival Ka`anapali, bringing a unique twist to the annual event with gourmet food and cocktails throughout the course.
Forty teams vied for top honors with prizes ranging from a 2015 Maui Toyota Corolla to signed copies of HFWF’s official cook book. The Golf Classic winners included Royal Lahaina Resort (Gary Hogan, Tom Bell, Peter Hehemann), which took first place; Roy’s Restaurants (Sharon Brown, Denise Hayashi Yamaguchi, Joe Melville), which placed second; and Royal Lahaina Resort Team #2 (Jerry Sager, June Pagdilao, Jansen Medeiros), which placed third.
The donation-generating event culminated with a “hole-in-one” dinner and awards presentation emceed by Guy Hagi at Roy’s Ka`anapali.
