If you’ve got a $10 bill that needs punishing, go see Princess Ka’iulani in theaters. Hurt the ones you love by inviting a friend. I did. And days later, I’m still sorry… Read the review HERE.
ANU WOULD RATHER BE WATCHING:
The Devil Wears Hilo Hattie, with soundtrack including a Barrio Fest rendition of Led Zeplin’s “Black Dog.”
Q’orianka Kilcher has played not just one ethnic princess, but two. Mahaloz to IMDB.com, I found a few FAQ’oriankas of interest…
Is Kilcher trilingual? Yes, she speaks German, Spanish and some English.
Can Kilcher kick my ass? Yes, she is a blackbelt in Wushu Kung Fu.
Who, likely, was Kilcher’s industry “in”? None other than her first cousin once removed-—the questioning-of-your-soul-saving, popfolk sensation, Jewel.
Who is Kilcher returning the favor to? With more new-breed Hollywood nepostism, little-bro Kainoa, landed a bit role in The New World, and plays “Kaleo” in Princess Ka’iulani.
In a recent installment of “Jeeez with Jenn,” MauiTime’s Jenn B became very frustrated (jeez!) when I could not name my favorite actor.
It never occurs to me to ask myself that kind of thing. I have stockpiled ways to waste time other than with online quizzes—but when I’ve dabbled, the favorite actor/ess is something I automatically skip.
Then, Ed. Jacob Shafer keenly pointed out that my favorite actor is Shaun Evans–who plays Clive Davies in Princess.
Oh! How could I have forgotten? My sweet, sweet Shaun!
Immediately, I hung his photo in my office, adorned with paper hearts, so as never to forget my affections.
In fairness, I should not loathve an actor just because of their role. But who can resist the charms of a character who does little more than lower the handles on his bike for you, in exchange for a few bases?
No one, that’s who (also, the people whom I recommend this movie to).
