Nancy Emerson–a former pioneer of the Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour–has added surfing instructor Joao Marco Maffini to her Maui-based surfing clinics staff. Maffini, a World Qualifying Series surfer from Haiku, is considered one of Maui’s best surfers. He trained under the eye of Maui’s Matt Kinoshita, one of the top surfers and shapers in the world, Emerson said.
Emerson has an abundance of respect for Kinoshita and his coaching skills, according to her Dec. 31, 2013 press release. Kinoshita has won many surf titles throughout the last three decades. Emerson said Maffini is a perfect example of Kinoshita’s coaching and that he will be an excellent addition to her team of surfing instructors on Maui.
Emerson is the originator of the world famous “Learn To Surf In One Lesson” technique, which she started on Maui in 1973. She reopened her Aloha Surf Clinics with Nancy Emerson operation in Maui last July; however, she is still based out of Oahu and the Gold Coast of Australia.
Aloha Surf Clinics offers private and semi-private surfing clinics to small groups. They also provide surf guiding for the more experienced surfers. Emerson offers surf guiding and surfing instruction in several languages including Italian, Portuguese and Spanish on Maui. The clinic offers Japanese-language sessions at her Oahu and Australia locations. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the web site surfclinics.com.
