Maui Brewing Co. founder and CEO Garrett W. Marrero has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Brewers Association (BA). Marrero will assume his new post for a three-year term beginning February 2016.
As a member of the BA board, Marrero will assist in governing the activities of the professional division of the association and other divisions such as the American Homebrewers Association, Brewers Publications and events. Garrett will continue to serve on the Government Affairs Committee within the BA.
“I’m honored to have been elected to the Board by my peers.,” Marrero said. “I’ve learned a great deal from many in the industry over the last 11 years and I’m excited to offer my input and be a resource for true craft beer. Our industry faces many new challenges and I look forward to fighting the good fight.”
The Brewers Association is a nonprofit trade organization that promotes and protects American craft brewers, their beers and the community of brewing enthusiasts. It’s made up of more than 2,800 U.S. brewery members and 45,000 members of the American Homebrewers Association–as well as members of the allied trade, beer wholesalers, retailers, individuals, other associate members and the Brewers Association staff.
Maui Brewing Co. is a craft brewery based on Maui and is Hawaii’s largest craft brewer. MBC operates a production brewery and tasting room in Kihei, as well as a brewpub in Kahana, and creates more than 50 different styles of craft beer on a rotating basis. Maui Brewing Co. is available in 15 states and 13 international countries with more areas to follow. Founded in 2005, Maui Brewing Co. brews all of its beer in Hawaii, and is now on pace to produce approximately 40,000 barrels in 2015.
