The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui installed new president Rev. Shinkai Murakami at the organization’s annual shinnen enkai held on Jan. 19 at the Maui Beach Hotel. The event was conducted by former president Keith Regan.
Murakami said as president he will work to grow the membership and encourage more participation in the various Japanese cultural activities and programs sponsored by the club.
At the event, Brian Sato was installed as 1st vice president and Lynn Araki-Regan as 2nd vice president. Other installations included Tiffany Iida, secretary; Kathy Ohta, treasurer; Priscilla Yamamoto, assistant treasurer; and directors Deron Furukawa, Kristl Ito-Lau, Spencer Lau, Brian Nagami, Helen Nielsen.
Nagami also was presented with a plaque on his outstanding service as president over the last two years.
