See, Mr. Policeman, I have bud in my glove-box because I’m on my way to church…
The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry is a Hilo-based religious organization that considers the use of cannabis the first sacrament of various religions. A Colorado man who is a part of the Hawaii Cannabis Ministry is being accused of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession and plans to defend himself Tuesday, March 9th using the defense that he belongs to The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry, and that his use of marijuana is therefore justified. How well the courts will react to that defense is up for debate, and the THC site claims that whether or not the defense works all depends on your own “sincerity,” or true religious conviction that marijuana is an essential part of your religion. To help you head in that direction, THC sells “The Kit” for $250, which includes Sanctuary Plaques, ID Cards, Sacramental Plant tags, and THC Ministry Cannabis and Religion Guide . They also have “cannabis college,” where Reverend Roger Christie teaches students about lighting, cloning, fertilizing, harvesting, and curing. A catered Hemp seed lunch is also provided during a break in class. Their slogan is “We use Cannabis religiously and you can, too.” By: Sierra Brown
