You read that right. This weekend, in honor of Veterans Day, there will be no admission fee to enter Haleakala National Park.
“On Veterans Day holiday weekend, November 9-11, 2013, Haleakala National Park is waiving entrance fees for all park visitors,” stated a Nov. 8 press release sent out by the National Park Service. “The waiver is part of the National Park Service commemoration of Veterans and Veteran’s Day. In addition, active duty military can obtain a free one-year America the Beautiful Military Pass at any national park, on any day of the year.”
Given the government shutdown last month, it’s the least they can do.
