After 12 years and plenty of blood, lots of sweat cuz its Lahaina, and tears, the West Maui Skate Park is open to the public for skaters (county officials held their grand opening this morning at 9am–a dubious time choice, given the fact that most kids were in school).
Please be careful of the grass and other vegetation, the landscaping is not pau. But the county and parties involved were cool enough to realize that the public was ready to utilize the park and opened it without having completed the landscaping. So be careful!
The park is a use at your own risk kind of place and kids under 10 need parent supervision. Please respect the park and utilize it wisely, is the advice from most of the officials at today’s blessing.
Now grab your board, and drop in.
