Governor Neil Abercrombie celebrated his birthday (June 26) on Maui at the 49th Annual Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. meeting in Wailuku, where he installed new officers of the MEO Board of Directors. Abercrombie joined MEO CEO Lyn McNeff and about 100 supporters and elected officials at the annual meeting.
Installed at the luncheon ceremony were Kai Pelayo, president; Kevin Yoshida, Vice President; Adele Rugg, Secretary; and Cliff Alakai, Treasurer. The officers will serve two-year terms.
During the meeting, the Governor said that he was happy to be able to celebrate his birthday with MEO, its board members, volunteers and staff.
“This is what Hawaii is all about,” the Governor said. “This is what Maui is all about. This is the Aloha spirit. People caring about other people and doing something about it. Next year MEO will have been here for 50 years and that is a terrific achievement.”
