This Fall, you can support children and families when you pump gas at your local Ohana Fuels gasoline locations. A portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at an Ohana Fuels location on Maui through the months of October, November and December will help support the families of Imua Family Services as part of the organizations “Fuel Up. Do Good” program.
“I am both grateful and thrilled that Ohana Fuels reached out to partner with Imua Family Services over the next quarter,” said Dean Wong, Imua’s Executive Director. “It’s an amazing opportunity for local businesses and local nonprofits to work together for the better of our community and to meet the needs of our many families. We encourage everyone to fuel up at any Ohana Fuels locations so that the most good can flow back into our community.”
The “Fuel Up. Do Good” program will help bolster Imua as it provides comprehensive early childhood development services to children and their families with the resources needed to achieve their full potential in life. Each year, more than 3,000 community members on Maui and Lanai receive support from Imua through its Infant & Child Development Program, Early Childhood Development Program, Newborn Hearing Screening and Camp Imua.
This year has been a period of expansion and growth for Imua. Currently the organization is in collaboration with Easter Seals Hawaii to convert Maui Land & Pineapple Company’s old 10,000 square foot property on Wakea Avenue in Kahului into the future Imua Family Services Early Childhood Training and Development Center. The design and construction is on course for early 2015 completion and opening.
This new facility will allow the organization to expand its services and programs. It will also help Imua provide specialized services to Maui’s children with special needs with a new state-of-the-art facility complete with innovative therapy rooms, designated areas for family counseling and activities, an inclusion preschool facility, education and training center, offices spaces for more than 45 staff members and an outdoor covered playground.
