Keep in mind the first printout represents “0 out of 250” precincts, meaning that it shows only early walk-in and absentee votes. And, as we expected, it doesn’t hold any surprises:
In the Hawaii U.S. Senate race, Democrat Mazie Hirono is leading Republican Linda Lingle 62.9 percent to 35.5 percent.
In the 2nd District U.S. Congress race, Democrat Tulsi Gabbard is leading Republican Kawika Crowley 77.9 percent to 17.6 percent.
Incumbent State Senator Roz Baker (6th District) is leading challenger Bart Mulvihill 64.8 percent to 29.5 percent.
Incumbent State Rep. Angus McKelvey (10th District) is bashing challenger Chayne Marten 64.3 percent to 30.4 percent.
Oh wait, a surprise! Challenger Kaniela Ing is ripping Republican incumbent State Rep. George Fontaine (11th District) a new one, 57.8 percent to 38.8 percent.
In the 12th District, incumbent State Rep. Kyle Yamashita is beating challenger Ekolu Kalama 75.8 percent to 19.2 percent.
In the 13th District, incumbent State Rep. Mele Carroll is slaughtering Simon S. Russell 70.6 percent to 22.2 percent.
In the Maui County Council races, all incumbents in contested races: Don Couch, Gladys Baisa and Mike Victorino seem to be cruising to easy victory.
Don Guzman, running for the open Kahului Maui County Council seat, is beating Alan Fukuyama 45.9 percent to 35.9 percent. For this election, that’s a squeaker.
And in the open Molokai County Council race, Stacy Crivello Helm is beating Wilson (Manuwai) Peters 40.9 percent to 23.4 percent.
Can’t wait to see what the races hold when we start looking at some real numbers.
