Legacy of Aloha, the charitable arm of Duke’s Beach House, has donated $2,289 to the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to educate the public on the important role local agriculture has on the Maui community. The money, which was presented during a recent Henry Kapono performance, was raised through sales of the restaurant’s Farm Salad during the months of January, February and March.
“Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides vital support to our local farmers and ranchers,” said Duke’s Beach House General Manager Shaughn Helliar. “By supporting our agriculture community, we not only gain fresh, locally grown products, but it also supports the people and businesses in our community.”
Duke’s Beach House will continue to donate a portion of the proceeds from a featured salad, made with Maui grown produce, to the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation throughout 2014. The featured salad can be identified by the “Growing Future Farmers” logo on the menu.
Legacy of Aloha was designed by Duke’s Beach House to impact and give back to the local community in a lasting and meaningful way. Each year Duke’s Beach House selects locally based organizations with causes that are close to the hearts of its owners, managers and staff such as combating hunger, preserving natural resources, perpetuating the Hawaiian culture, and supporting kupuna or the elderly – causes that Duke Kahanamoku would have supported in his day.
