MAUI OCEAN CENTER
No. I’m not sure if it’s a seafood menu. In fact, I’m pretty sure that it’s pretty diverse. The Maui Ocean Center is offering a special Mother’s Day brunch that includes your choice of a pupu, salad, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic drink. Not to mention, admission to the aquarium is included so after lunch you and Mom can visit all the pretty fish. 192 Ma`alaea Rd., Wailuku, 270-7000. $$
CAFE DE AMIS
One word: Crepes. I have not met a mother who does not like crepes, as long as she doesn’t have to make them. Café De Amis knows their stuff. My absolute favorite is the stuffed crepe with cheese and chicken. And I love the one with strawberry and powdered sugar. Oh, and the lime and cane! Wait, I forgot about the Nutella version… Best bet? Order something different than Mom, then swap halves. 42 Baldwin Ave., Paia. Open daily 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. 579-6323. $
KEA LANI RESTAURANT, TERRACE LEVEL
The Kea Lani has a daily breakfast buffet, but when was the last time you decided to splurge and go for it? The grounds are gorgeous, the food is great and most importantly, you can eat until you beg for death. I recommend getting there early so you have ample time for a cup of coffee and a plate of food, lounge, have another cup of coffee and maybe a glass of juice, pile up another plate and then repeat three times. Kea Lani, 4100 Wailea Alanui Dr., Wailea, 875-4100. Open daily from 6:30 a.m.-11 a.m. $$
MOANA BAKERY AND CAFE
I’ve loved this place for a long time. It’s a great place to go with your mom. The seats are comfy, the people watching is fun, the food is great–best damn loco moco on the island–and they usually offer a variety of fresh baked goods. After breakfast you’ll be just a hop, skip and a jump away from great stores and art galleries so you and Mom can then do what you do best. 71 Baldwin Ave., Paia, 579-9999. Open daily 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. $
KULA LODGE
While their Eggs Benny just isn’t as good as it used to be (the hollandaise tastes packaged to me) Kula Lodge is still a great place to go if only for the wonderful ambiance and panoramic view. Alright, I’ll admit it, their food is pretty damn good, too. You can walk the garden after breakfast, but don’t forget to head next door to the Kula Marketplace, which is chock full of potential gifts for Mom. 15200 Haleakala Hwy., Kula, 878-1535. Open daily 7 – 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. $$ MTW
