Jonny’s Burger Joint (Burger Salad)
Brother, is this one good. It’s basically a bun-less burger, but served in a bowl salad-style with the beef all ground up. Oh hell, I just wrote the phrase “salad-style.” Look, it’s different, I’ll give you that. It also helps that it tastes great. 2395 Honoapi’ilani Rd., Ka’anapali, 661-4500.

MaLa (Mark’s Caesar Salad)
The ancient Romans, who spoke Latin, would not have pronounced the word “Caesar” as we do today, which is something like “seezer.” Instead, they would have pronounced it the way we say “kaisar,” which is in fact where that word came from. I actually thought of these things as I recently ate this great salad—which also comes with four crispy pita triangles. As to how the Romans said the word “pita,” historians still haven’t come up with a definite answer. 1307 Front St., Lahaina, 667-9394.
