Pau Wednesdays at Dazoo
It’s getting so that I can’t wait for the third Wednesday of the month to see what professional bar man Jimmy Shoemaker is going to come up with for Pau Night at Dazoo. This week’s installation falls on the day after St. Patrick’s Day, so pull up your green hose for a second go-round with the luck of the Irish for Jimmy’s St. Patty’s post mortem.
The cocktail list for the once-a-month Pau Night is not on the regular Dazoo cocktail menu. It’s simply 30 days worth of Shoemaker scheming since the last event. Handmade shrubs, herbs and locally made spirits are the name of the game. Given that the same guys that make Pau Vodka now offer Paniolo Bourbon as well, they’re down with brown cocktails, too.
This Wednesday, Shoemaker will be swizzling Lucky Charms milk with Paniolo bourbon in a milk punch-inspired drink that also features a crazy tangerine shrub sugar rim. Shoemaker usually has a light bubbly drink, and this time it has notes of lavender and Lokelani sparkling rose.
In other news, Dazoo’s new hours started in March. They open at 5pm on weekdays for dinner. During the day, head to the Dazoo bakery for pastries, breads and sandwiches. On weekends, brunch is 9am to 3pm. Then they close from 3-5pm and re-open at 5pm for dinner.
