Thanksgiving is just a day away, but if you still don’t have plans, don’t despair: there’s a heaping plateful of islandwide options. (Please note the prices listed don’t include child options; call ahead for reservations and more info.)
Wailea offers everything from bountiful buffets to gourmet turkey and trimmings. The chef’s tasting menu at Capische? is a fantastic four-course extravaganza. Gannon’s: A Pacific View has a full self-serve Thanksgiving buffet starting at 4:30pm, and Joe’s features a turkey entree. Mulligan’s on the Blue will have a Thanksgiving buffet starting at 3pm or a three-course dinner, whichever you prefer, with live music from Jordan and Wolf starting at 5pm. Rumor has it that Wolfgang Puck will be cooking at the Four Seasons’ Spago, while from 2:15-5pm you can get the locals’ special turkey entree for $24. At Longhi’s Wailea, Thanksgiving seating begins at noon, while Mala Wailea has a huge buffet with carving stations and two seatings: 3-3:30pm and 5-9:30pm.
On the West side, Kapalua’s Plantation House Restaurant will have an à la carte menu with a traditional oven-roasted turkey and candied yams. Merriman’s will serve organic roasted turkey with pineapple cran relish. At Roy’s Kahana, the three-course prix fixé menu has sausage stuffing and giblet gravy. In Kaanapali, Pulehu has a four-course “Thanksgiving-inspired” menu for $40. At Umalu, organic turkey with Portuguese sausage stuffing will be served for $45. Leilani’s turkey feast will feature apple pistachio stuffing and all the fixings for $27. Ono Bar and Grill and Duke’s on the Beach have special menus, and Kaanapali Beach Hotel is serving an all you-can-eat-buffet with brunch and dinner seatings. The Club House will have turkey and football starting at 11am.
The Hard Rock Lahaina will be feeding less-fortunate folks with its annual Feed My Sheep and Lahaina Salvation Army free dinner starting at 10am. David Paul’s prix fixé menu features organic turkey, lamb or ham for $55; seating begins at 5pm. Lahaina Cafe will have football games and a $5 special turkey plate. Lulu’s celebrates with a turkey plate and pipikaula stuffing for $25. Lahaina Grill opens early at 5:30pm and seats until 9:30pm, serving Thanksgiving entrees and à la carte specials. Moose’s dishes Thanksgiving plates for $17, and Canoes serves guava-glazed turkey.
Up the mountain, Kula Lodge has à la carte holiday entreés, and Makawao Steak house serves a feast starting at 4pm augmented by a salad bar. Rodeo General Store offers dinner for eight-to-12 people for $129; pick up prime rib or turkey plates or veggie lentil loafs to go. At Hailiimaile General Store, the turkey buffet starts at 2:30pm. Mama’s Fish House has lunch seatings for Thanksgiving; start with the kabocha pumpkin bisque with lobster. Moana Bakery and Cafe has a buffet from 3-7pm for $29.
In Maalaea, check out Beach Bum’s for an amazing kiawe-smoked turkey, starting at noon. Buzz’s Wharf offers a turkey roast or prime rib, dine-in or take out for $29. Waterfront opens at 4pm with a Thanksgiving menu. The Ale House and Da Kitchen will be closed in Kahului, but you can enjoy their Thanksgiving specials on Wednesday. Down to Earth will also be closed, but Tuesday and Wednesday they feature mock turkey cutlets and garbanzo gravy at the hot bar. Maui Beach Hotel, King Kamehameha Golf Course and Maui Tropical Plantation will have grand buffet options, from $30 to $40, and Coconut Grill will offer Thanksgiving specials. Whole Foods will have special hours—8am-9pm Monday-Tuesday, 7am-10pm Wednesday and 7am-3pm Thursday—and sells six-person holiday meals for $100 featuring organic turkey and all the fixings.
In Kihei, Da Kitchen is open from 9am-9pm, serving a big old turkey plate for $12.50. Stella Blues Cafe has an incredible menu planned, including Asian chicken wonton cups, turkey, and their famous macadamia nut mahi mahi. Monsoon India will have a Thanksgiving buffet and bellydancing, while 808 Bistro has turkey and all the fixin’s for $25 (both are BYOB). It’s a potluck at Kiwi Roadhouse—bring a side dish to share and enjoy live entertainment from Billy and the Bad Dogs, while they provide the free turkey dinner.
Five Palms will feature a three-course menu with a roasted turkey entree for $37 staring at 3pm. Moose’s Kihei will have a turkey entree available for $17. Dog and Duck at Kihei Kalama Village will be celebrating Thanksgiving with regular hours, while Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse opens at 11am and will have a house-smoked organic turkey leg with your choice of any two sides and a special holiday dessert for $16.
