Buckle up buttercup, because the annual Maui Brewfest is comin’ up. This holy trilogy of craft brew, Maui’s best restaurants and the state’s most exciting entertainment takes place this Saturday, May 14, from 3:30-7pm at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater.
The whole thing is also a fundraiser for the MACC, our island’s premier arts and entertainment facility. So you can suck em down and sup it up all day guilt-free! Proceeds from Maui Brewers Festival go to the MACC’s community outreach and educational programs and contribute to their free events as well.
Most of us already know about Maui Brewing Company and their new, bigger brewpub in Kihei. Then there’s the new upstart Kohola Brewery in Lahaina. But Brewfest will have sweet suds from 10 Hawaii breweries to make it even easier to sample local selections, as well as dozens of other breweries from around the country.
This year, the Maui Brewers Festival will feature more than 40 breweries, including the following:
2 Towns Ciderhouse, AleSmith Brewing Company, Anchor Brewing Company, Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Avery Brewing Company, Ballast Point Brewing Company, Bear Republic Brewing Company, Big Island Brewhaus, The Bruery, Coronado Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery, Eel River Brewing Company, Great Divide Brewing Co., Green Flash Brewing Company, GoodLife Brewing Company, Hawai’i Nui Brewing & Mehana Brewing Company, Honolulu Beerworks, Kauai Beer Company, Kauai Island Brewing Company, Kohola Brewery, Kona Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Lanikai Brewing Company, Lost Coast Brewery, Maui Brewing Co., Modern Times Beer, Mother Earth Brew Co., North Coast Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Pizza Port Brewing Company, Port Brewing & The Lost Abbey, Refuge Brewery, Rogue Ales & Spirits, Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., SKA Brewing Company, Smog City Brewing, Stewbum & Stonewall Brewing Company, Stone Brewing Co. and Wandering Aengus Ciderworks. But Brewfest is also a food fest. The beer’s great, but you definitely want to save room for the food. The expert team at the MACC is sparing nothing to get you the finest lineup of island restaurants and caterers. We’re talking donuts, tacos, burgers, pizza and pops to get happy in your belly.
Your mouth will water over the following restaurants participating in this year’s Brewfest:
AK’s Café, Brigit & Bernard’s Garden Café, Catering Creations by Vasi, Cravings Bakery, Donut Dynamite, Fleetwood’s on Front St, HONU Seafood & Pizza, Kalama’s Local Grinds, Like Poke…?, Lotus Catering, The Manapua Bakery, Maui Brewing Co, Maui Cones, Maui Tacos, Mulligan’s on the Blue, Outrigger Pizza Company, Pascual’s Café & Catering, Sansei, Shaka Pops, Star Anise Indian Cuisine, Sumo Dogs, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, The Daily Grindz, The Maui Cookie Lady, Three’s Bar & Grill and Whole Foods Kahului.
And while you’re there, grab your hunny and take in the show. You can raise your craft brew glass to Riddum Station, a seven-piece reggae funk band that will open the show. What’s more, Erin Smith will make a special trip over from Oahu to perform. Check out this sassy video Smith filmed on Maui, which features her song “Hardly” from her new album American Boy.
