Commitment #12 of 93 – I will walk, bike, or catch the bus at least once per week instead of riding or driving in a car.
What would be the impact if every Kanu member said yes to I will walk, bike, or catch the bus at least once per week instead of riding or driving in a car.? Over the course of a year, our commitments will reduce CO2 emissions by 3,625.7 tons. The impact is equivalent to planting 3167 trees.
Kanu Hawaii challenges you to eat local during the week of September 26 to October 2!
Why? Hawaii’s food supply is extremely vulnerable due to strained farmers, deteriorating infrastructure, and heavy dependence on imports. If barge and air freight to Hawai‘i were interrupted, our islands’ food supplies would last only 12-14 days. Processed and packaged imports are also less healthy than fresh locally-grown food, and yet local agriculture continues to shrink.
Take the challenge: Commit to an action below in support of a healthy, sustainable, secure food system. We’ll help you get started by posting recipes, guides, and deals from our restaurant and market partners.
Spread the word: Share a recipe, brag about the meal you just made (with photo proof!), and spread the word on a local eating deal by posting a quick journal.

I think this initiative is amazing. If we could all get involved it would make such a mind blowing impact.
