The goodness of fluffy light as a cloud pancakes are so coveted on this planet they get their own holiday, also called Shrove Tuesday. It has its roots in Lent, as a precursor when people would clean their cupboards of butter, sugar and eggs, they found making them into pancakes was a good way to go. IHOP continues this tradition of Pancake Day as a celebration around their buttermilk recipe serving up shortstacks for free on March 1st. The catch, if you can call it that, is that they ask you to make a donation to children’s charity on that day. Last year’s fundraising was so successful they raised 2.1 million dollars. This year they are hoping to make it up to 2.5 million total.
