This is my kinda girl. She mixes martini’s with gin, Bombay Sapphire Gin, and fresh fruit, Bombay and blueberries no less. I love that she headed to Oahu to school the competition, which is pretty fierce over there. Delia “Dia” Asada hails from the Fairmont Kea Lani here on Maui, and now I will have to seek out a seat at her bar to try this now famous concoction.
Hey, by the way US Bartender’s Guild if you need a judge at your next event….in Vegas, I could clear my schedule! That is right, Asada is now heading with her gin bottles in hand to compete in Las Vegas at the end of August. Forty of the hottest mixologists in the nation in one place. Asada even gets a chance to be profiled in GQ’s December issue.

A city-wide search unveils hottest local bar tendering talent
HONOLULU June 23, 2010 The USBG is proud to announce Deliah “Dia” Asada as Hawaii’s next mixology force to be reckoned with. Her innovative and delicious Martini Kawili with sage and blueberry, was honored last night as a symbol of all things well-crafted and innovative in the art of bartending.

This achievement sends Asada off to Las Vegas at the end of August to participate in a USBG Bartender summit, where she will mix and mingle with 40 of the hottest bartenders in the nation – and may be selected as the Nation’s Most Inspired, in which case she will be profiled in a special advertising section alongside their signature cocktail in GQ’s December 2010 – Men of The Year issue.

Throughout the summer, the USBG will be advancing best-practice bartending around the US, taste-testing cocktails from different venues, from brightly-lit spacious restaurants, to small, dim, members-only clubs, and all intent on discovering new drinks from the next generation of bartenders and educating them on different categories and brands.
