Join Whole Foods in their fight against childhood obesity. For every pound of salad purchased on Sunday, Whole Foods Market will donate $1 to the Whole Kids Foundation’s Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools program. The goal of the Whole Kids Foundation is to end the Childhood Obesity epidemic.
Last year, the number of salad bars sponsored by this program hit 1,000, and they are looking to fund and grant 6,000 salad bars by 2013. In 2010, the store chain raised $1.4 million to award 564 salad bar grants. Because of this, Whole Foods Market pledged another $1 million to the program. Other programs sponsored by the Whole Foods Foundation include: School Garden Grants, Nutrition Education for Teachers and Better Bites. 7am-9pm.
