[MUSIC/BENEFIT] Willie Nelson is an owner of horses and an associate of “Doobies.” He’s a cultural icon for more than his long-lived music career. Most people on this island know about his fondness of doing charity concerts for Maui’s causes, especially with his annual benefits for the Montessori School of Maui. But did you know Willie also owns a couple of bio-diesel plants? The man is deeply concerned with the environment, local and global. Yes, of most things green as well. Willie is just all right with me. The Doobie Brothers are also playing and for $250 you can “rub elbows and have your picture taken with the legendary band!” Space is limited to the first 50 people on that sweet deal. For $1,500, you and nine of your closest friends can reserve a table. Both aforementioned tickets include a catered dinner. Call 573-7568 for these tickets. Don’t panic if you’re not feeling that rich. General Admission is only $50-adults, and $40-children. Call 242-show (7469) for general tickets and show info. [KEITH BENEDICT]
