MORT LUBY – Mon, Mar 24. Mort Luby studied art at the Universities of Notre Dame and Chicago. He is a member of numerous art associations, including the Oil Painters of America, the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, the Valley Art Club and the Palette and Chisel Academy of Art in Chicago. Mort paints in oil and watercolor. The scope of his work encompasses everything from life drawings to huge oil paintings of historical scenes. The artist will be demonstrating watercolor techniques. NADINE RAMELB – Wed, Mar 26. Artist Nadine Ramelb has lived in Hawaii for the past 27 years. Her watercolor style is free-form, blending and bleeding lush color applications without pre-penciling. BOB DYLAN – Sat, Apr 26. The legendary singer-songwriter will perform in Hawaii for the first time in 16 years. MAUI BREWERS FESTIVAL-Sat, May 17. One of Maui’s favorite festivals features the specialty and craft brews of dozens of breweries from Hawaii and the Mainland, as well as scrumptious pupu samplers from many of the island’s favorite restaurants and caterers. Admission to the festival includes a commemorative glass to use in sampling eight four-ounce pours of beer. There will be live music for entertainment, as well as prizes. Proceeds benefit the MACC’s many educational programs for students, teachers and seniors, as well as the many free events offered to the Maui County community. KEIKI CAN READ TO A THERAPY DOG – Assistance Dogs of Hawaii, a nonprofit organization that provides people with physical disabilities specially-trained dogs to assist them in living more independent lives, will present a program which is said to improve children’s reading and communication skills. Reading to a Therapy Dog can help build a keiki’s reading confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and is a lot of fun.
