Whether you’re a devout Judeo-Christian practitioner or prefer the Hare Club for Men conspiracy, it’s hard not to love the chance Easter affords to celebrate the comeliness of springtime resurrection with family and friends. Of course, loads of local churches host egg hunts and services (too many to make mention of in this itty bitty space), but our isle’s malls and resorts host some hippity hoppety happenings, too. EASTER CELEBRATION AT MAUI MALL – Sat., Apr. 7. Score Easter treats from shops throughout the mall (starting at 9am), then enjoy a comedy and magic show by Brenton Keith & His Bag O’Tricks (10am). Later, 12 lucky keiki can get creative in an Easter bonnet decorating contest (11am) and Easter basket decorating contest (11:30am), with all materials provided (but you’re welcome to bring your own extra supplies, too), followed by a ribbon dance by Energy 35 Productions (12pm) and performance by Dance International (1pm). AN EASTER CANTATA AND PHOTOS WITH THE EASTER BUNNY AT LAHAINA CANNERY MALL – Fri. through Sat., Apr. 6-7. On Friday, the Lahaina Baptist Church Choir presents an Easter cantata (6pm). And on Saturday, the hip kids of Na Kamali‘i Nani O Lahaina perform hula. Plus, on both Friday and Saturday (6-8pm and 10am-3pm, respectively), kids can take pics with the Easter Bunny–the perfect way to augment springtime scrapbooks. Free admission. SANRIO EASTER CELEBRATION AT QKC – Sat., Apr. 7. Sanrio hosts family fun activities in the center court (11am-1pm). Also, the Holokai Club (sponsored by KISS 99.9 FM) presents its monthly free activity day for keiki (geared for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade; 10am-12pm). This egg hunt’s for keiki 10-years-old and younger, and is presented by the Makawao Community Association, Kaonoulu Ranch, Haleakala Ranch and Ric Rac Records. EASTER EGG HUNT AT RITZ-CARLTON KAPALUA – Sun., Apr. 8. Keiki ages 0-to 12-years-old are invited to join the Easter Bunny and Aloha Bear in gathering treat-filled eggs for fun and prizes.
