[SLAM] Uh, yeah we do. I mean, think about it: When the world began, women, as the smarter sex, ruled over the way of life. They made the men do all of the manual labor for building stuff and getting food. Then, through evolution, men became bigger and stronger because of all of this work they were doing. Women’s bodies didn’t evolve the same as the men’s because they were mainly using their intellect and doing less of the physical labor. Once men realized that they were big and strong enough to dominate women, they went for it. Yes, women still had the smarts but men had the ability to take what they wanted. If you think about it, anyone would do the same thing, after being dominated for so long. Slowly, through time, women have regained some of the ground they lost way back then. Hopefully, we’re on our way to a place of true equality. Now, women are maintaining this growth by banding together and supporting one another with events just like this one. “We Got Issues” is similar to Vagina Monologues in that it’s a movement of women speaking out—but as a book compiling the “rants,” poems, songs and prose that are meant to inspire and raise awareness from women aged 18-35. And it’s the perfect time to do so, being that Wednesday is International Women’s Day. Get out there and learn more about the way women think and feel. Or hey, I’ve got an idea—maybe you could even contribute. [HEIDI KING]
