[ART] “Washi to Wings, The Art of Japanese Kites” is an exhibition of contemporary and traditional kites from Japan running now through June 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Free admission. Thursday will feature a free lecture by Nobuhiko Yoshizumi, a master kite builder from Kyoto, and Scott Skinner, founder of the Drachen Foundation. The opening festivities for the exhibit will be on Saturday, and they’ll be giving away 250 kits to the first “kids” who come through. The Hui will also feature kitemaking workshops through the weekend, demonstrating the building, handpainting, block printing and flying of kites, for adults and keiki.
