This Thursday, join the conversation surrounding the future of Kaho’olawe at a “Kaho’olawe: 2026” Maui working group meeting. Around since June, the group consists of community members and representatives of the Kaho’olawe Island Reserve Commission, the Protect Kaho’olawe Ohana and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. They’re attempting to put together a strategic plan for the island that will last through the year 2026. The first part of the discussion will include a 30-minute screening of the current ecological and spiritual practices used to restore the island following decades of military bomb testing. Following the screening, they’ll present and discuss the current Kaho’olawe 2026 plan. Free. 6pm-8:30pm. Lihikai Elementary School (335 S. Papa Ave., Kahului), Iolakanaloa.org
