Here’s a special glimpse into the life and work of Pulitzer winning poet and environmental activist W.S. Merwin. The documentary Even Though the Whole World is Burning follows various events in Merwin’s life that lead him from one side of the country to the other. Before the film there will be a special reception that includes pupus, wine and an opportunity to visit with the Merwins and filmmakers, as well as a poem from John Burnham Schwartz and Hector Elizondo. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Stefan Schaefer. Proceeds will benefit The Merwin Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming a wasteland into tropical palm forest. $100 (reception+film) $25-$40 (film). 6pm Reception. 7:30pm Film.
