Usher in the Japanese traditional Obon Festival this Friday at the Kahului Hongwanji Mission. One of many happening island-wide, the annual Obon Festival will now take place in Central Maui. The Buddhist event honors ancestors with dances and rituals. You can find food offerings, lantern lighting and traditional Obon dancing.
