The 14th Annual Maui Matsuri Festival returns to the University of Hawaii Maui College this Friday and Saturday. Immerse yourself in Japanese culture for a time of commemoration, celebration and community. The first evening will feature local storytellers for a time of obake (ghost) stories, fables and fairy tales. The festivities continue on Saturday by transforming the festival into a small village with food vendors, crafters, entertainers, contests, cultural exhibits, a kids zone and demonstration areas. Free. UH Maui College (310 W. Ka’ahumanu Ave., Kahului); 808-283-9999, mauimatsuri.com
