[ROOTS/ROCK/REGGAE/HAWAIIAN] San Diego’s Tribal Seeds are coming to the island this weekend to put a little rock in your roots music on their Summer Massive 2007 tour. Their debut album, Youth RebelLion, blends rock and reggae for a unique sound that’s heavily influenced by artists like Bob Marley, Steel Pulse and Midnite. The rebels have shared stages with big names like The Wailers, Matisyahu and Gregory Issacs, and they’ll share this stage with special guest and Maui sweetheart Raiatea Helm, who was Hawai`i’s first Grammy-nominated female vocalist for her second album, Sweet and Lovely. On her new self produced album, Hawaiian Blossoms, she’s still showcasing her clear, high voiced leo ki`eki`e style and honoring traditional Hawaiian music. The rebels from So Cal with the darling from Molokai? Sounds like an interesting night. Tickets: $35, $25. For info visit online at www.summermassive.com. [JA]
