What’s not to love about the MACC’s cozy, little blackbox McCoy Studio Theater? Seating just 300, it makes any show an intimate experience—putting you up close and personal with your favorite performers. For their next “Solo Sessions” installment, don’t miss award-winning kumu hula Keali’i Reichel of Halau Ke’alaokamaile (which he formed in 1980 and which has won numerous awards including the first women’s group for hula kahiko (traditional), hula ‘auana (modern) and top wahine overall honors, at this year’s Merrie Monarch Hula Festival on Hawai’i Island). Reichel, a founding director of Punana Leo O Maui, a Hawaiian language immersion school, has earned over 19 Na Hoku Hanohano awards, and is consistently placed on Billboard‘s World Music and Heatseeker charts. 808-242-7469 / mauiarts.org
