Jake Shimabukuro must have an extra-ordinary amount of facial muscles. This kid smiles. All The Time. I hope that he is just having a lot of fun and doesn’t have some strange new type of permanent-smile botox. Though his emotional range may seem to have only one frequency, his diversely talented hands more than make up for it. Shimabukuro is at home in Hawaii, and is about to make his usual rounds at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. He is sure to showcase the two new songs he released in the album Annon in August 2009. Annon and Ichigoiche, the album’s two tracks, were released together to celebrate the founder of Shin Buddhisms’ 750th memorial. “Ichigoiche,” meaning “Once in a Lifetime” is Jake’s favorite Japanese word and should make the cut for your “favorites” ipod play list. Check Jake Shimabukuro’s performance out at the MACC on Saturday, March 27th, at 7:30 PM. 242-show or mauiarts.org. Tickets are $12, $30, $40
