Bark It Here: Saturday (October 16), 5-9pm, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali, $65 Adults/$35 Keiki
Maui Humane Society’s popular fest heads West for the first time, upping the ante with activities at their primary fundraising effort for another year of “building lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach and the prevention of cruelty.” It’s the next best way to support this organization’s important services, other than by adopting a four-legged or feathered addition into your ohana (though you can do both, of course). Maui Brewing Company hosts both a beer garden for the 21+ crowd, and a special root beer gardenShaggy Jenkins of Q103 for the keiki (which, keiki or no, sounds tasty). Speaking of “growlers,” the wit and grit of the one and only will having you rolling like a happy pup getting a belly rub, as he emcees the evening. Live music begins with Lisa Owen and the Village Musicians, plus the pickin’ of the Haiku Hillbillys, and headlines with Maui’s most meowin’ rockers, Jimmy Mac & The Kool Kats. Sponsored by Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Maui Brewing Company, Pacific Radio Group, KAOI Radio Group, Bella Bloom Floral Boutique, Hawaii Pet Magazine, Village Audio & Lighting and Bounty Music, it’s a raucous gala evening that’s both essential in cause and accessible in cost; you’ll be howling in sorrow if you miss out. 877-3680, info@mauihumanesociety.org
