It’s been less than a week since the March 10 earthquakes and tsunamis devastated Japan and shocked the world. Naturally, everyone is still somber and sobered by the events. So this St. Patty’s Day, I’ve been wondering—how can I don my bright green fancy pants and beer goggle glasses in good conscience? What good is slurring, “Another Guinness (hiccup), please” at a time like this? The fine folks at Mulligan’s on the Blue (874-1131) are helping alleviate some of that guilt by donating a portion of their tips to the American Red Cross relief effort. And $3 from the sale of every St. Patty’s Day T-shirt (made by Mulligan’s own Darren Sarno) will also benefit the Red Cross. Be sure to take advantage of the free shuttle between Mulligan’s and fellow Irish pub Dog & Duck (875-9669) for more mean, green festivities. Plus, neighboring Ambrosia (891-1011) hosts a provocative St. Patty’s party, as will D&D’s sister location, Diamonds Ice Bar (874-9299). Upcountry, the Kit Kat Club Cabaret brings more lusty luck to Casanova (572-0220), and if you stick around until Saturday, you can attend a benefit for Japan with Inna Vision and Super Dub 5.
