Micah Nelson’s problem is that he’s into everything. And so is the band he’s a part of with Logan Metz, Lincoln Mendell, Gerry Hirschfeld, Devin McCartey, and Chris Bullard: The Reflectacles. I asked him to “define” the bands style and received a list of bands he thinks they’re kinda-sorta like: everything from The Beatles to Of Montreal to some guy at a show in Northridge’s opinion: “If John Fogerty ate a bunch of acid.” His favorite song to play? “That’s impossible. That’s like if I was a father of 10,000 children and you were asking me to choose between them..! I’m sorry, I don’t know if I could ever answer that.” Their crazily-prolific, all-over-the-place, pyschedelic folk-rolk band comes across as polished, alive, and like they could provide the soundtrack to the best cross-country road trip of your life. This weekend, The Reflectacles are back from Cali, visiting Micah’s childhood home, and are making the rounds at a couple of good spots this weekend. On Friday, May 21st, The Reflectacles and Folk Uke will play at 9pm at Stella Blues. On Saturday they’ll be at Charley’s with special guests, for a $20 cover charge. “So come and take a ride with me, I’ll show you places far and wide…”
