This week, we’re playing Peter Piper and picking Pepper. Kona’s own Kaleo Wassman (guitar, vocals), Bret Bollinger (bass, vocals) and Yesod Williams (drums) are certainly well-known in the 808, but they’ve also made a mighty name for themselves abroad thanks to an extensive touring/recording history; they’ve joined the Vans Warped Tour and played with everyone from The Wailers to Snoop Dogg to Flogging Molly. This year, they again hit the road (a place they never seem to leave) for their annual, 25-show Unity Tour (with 311 and The Offspring), and released their latest EP, Stitches. And they’re on the eve of releasing a new music video for “Drunk Girl”—in 3D (visit pepperlive.com to send away for a free pair of 3D glasses). Their Maui concert is part of the fourth annual Volcanic Rock Out Tour, and (hooray for the under-21 set!) it’s an all-ages show. (Oh, and speaking of stuff for under-21ers to (legally) do, The Underground—a new underage club—opens this Friday at 744 Front Street in Lahaina. 7pm-2am; $10) If you want to to pick Pepper too, pick up tickets at Requests, Green Banana Internet Cafe, Old Lahaina Book Emporium or through the MACC’s box office. 242-7469, mauiarts.org
