Ok, we knew that Dirty South cancelled his Feb. 12 Maui Arts & Cultural show back on Feb. 9. But his reason was kept quiet until today. Here’s the DJ’s official statement, posted on his Twitter page just a few hours ago:
With the recent declaration of emergency from the Hawaii Department of Health, I regret to say that I'll need to cancel my 2/12 Maui show 🙁

Dirty South was a bit more apologetic on his Facebook page:
With the recent declaration of emergency from the Hawaii Department of Health and travel advisories, I regret to say that I will need to cancel my upcoming February 12 Maui performance. This was not an easy decision – and I’m really, truly sorry to all the fans. I can’t wait to come back to the island soon and hope that you all stay healthy and safe.
Wait, what?
The “declaration of emergency” Dirty South speaks of in his tweet is over an outbreak of Dengue Fever on the Big Island–not Maui. There is, right now, absolutely no “declaration of emergency” on Maui, for Dengue Fever or anything else (there was a case of Dengue reported on Maui over a week ago, but health officials say that person caught the disease elsewhere and then flew here–the disease is only transmitted by infected mosquitoes).
So yeah. We know that big concerts and shows get cancelled fairly regularly on Maui, but this has to be one of the dumbest reasons we’ve yet seen.
Anyway, show promoter BAMP says “Refunds are available at your point of purchase” and “Online ticket buyers will be credited automatically. ”
